Guiding principles of the design proposal are the continuous space and the contextual integration into this special place. We believe that open spaces create community and promote free thoughts in this place with a military past. We see the kindergarden, the elementary school and the nursery as an open, spatial landscape.
The continuous space differentiates into specific and neutral spaces of different sizes, which can be used by everybody. Three new buildings will extend the usability if the three existing buildings. All of them share one entrance and form a cluster around the heart of the complex. The uniform spatial structure of the listed ensemble and the spontaneous deformation by wild vegetation reminds us of different eras of German history. Within this field of tension, the school integrates itself into the existing context and updates it.
